Grounding

I dreamt that I was flying.

Soaring high, without a care.

Swooping higher,

Into the warm, sunny sky.

Higher, happy,

Free.

Sleeping, stirring.

Clouds gather, quickly, thickly,

Getting darker, blacker.

Raining now, soaking, splashing.

Heavy, weighing down, sodden.

Struggling down,

Down towards the cold, hard ground.

Waking, stretching.

No more soaring,

Swooping brightness.

Reality envelopes, cold and dark.

Dreams lost, forgotten.

A world entirely different

In dreams.

Feeling a void,
Not all there.
Missing your smile,
The fact that you care.

Alone and frightened,
Not now so sure.
Scars seem deeper,
No sign of a cure.

My security blanket,
Missing more by the day.
Safe in your arms,
I wish I could stay.

Lie here, thiking of you.
Its 11pm, I cant call.
Dreading the dawn echoes.
I will miss you all.

Portrait of a Poet

I

Life as it is,
Mirage, something amiss.
Smile on the surface,
While despair depths race.
Offer only false guarantee,
Convincing them,not me.


II

More to life than this,
Staring into deep abyss.
Pain becomes numbed,
Emotions all left dumbed.
Re-iterate my choices,
But all left to the voices.
Tangled web of confusion,
Ends in no conclusion.


III

Dreaming awake,
Wishes real, not fake.
Not this is mind,
Truth is going to find.
A day to be me,
Finally, truly, free.
